Norval outdoor school is turning 100 on Sunday October 6th and Flowers to Fragrance is going to help celebrate this great achievement.

We’ll be showing off some of our great products and talking to students and parents about our farm. The day is going to be full of fun activities that begin at 10 a.m. and a schedule will be posted at the entrance so you can plan your day. All of these activities are free and you don’t need to sign up ahead of time.

o             Tours and archival display
o             Baseball game
o             100-mile farmer’s market
o             Fresh apple cider press
o             Tree planting

There’s also boat races…

All brave boaters are invited to build a boat that they can sail down the river at 2:30 p.m. in competition for the Norval 100 trophy. All boats must be built prior to arrival and removed from Norval at the end of the day. It’s a one-kilometre hike down to the river, and you’ll have to carry your boat.  A toasty outdoor wood sauna will be set up at the end of the race in case you take a dip in the river during the race.

For those who don’t wish to sail the river themselves, there will be a “Paddle to the Sea” boat launch at 2 p.m. Participants can purchase a model wooden boat for $10 and decorate it before launch. Each boat will be equipped with a nametag listing the owner’s first name and a Norval email address so that the travels of your boat can be followed. This has been a treasured activity at Norval for many years and boats have been tracked as far away as Prince Edward County. You can either pre-order your boat or purchase one at Norval on Oct. 6.
