Are you finding yourself “stuck” in a skin-care routine that just isn’t doing the trick? Now that winter has arrived, depending on your skin-type, you will either be rejoicing that your skin has finally calmed down OR you will be cursing how this dry weather affects you.
You likely already have some idea of the type of skin that you have, however many people don’t take care of their skin in accordance to their skin-type! Different products will yield highly varied results depending on the way your skin behaves, and this can change with the seasons as well. For example, I absolutely need a very heavy moisturizer during the winter months, yet I will do just fine applying a light moisturizer over the summer!

Often labeled the “most essential essential oil”, lavender has wonderfully antiseptic properties, keeping bacteria in check and therefore reducing breakouts, infections, and healing your skin. Lastly, your circulatory system is wildly enhanced by the use of this essential oil, increasing blood flow – which means more nutrients being brought into the skin along with much needed oxygen to your cells! Combined, these three amazing properties will leave your skin glowing and healthy.

So, how do I use natural skin-care products in accordance with my skin type?
The first step is putting together a skin-care regime that will benefit you the greatest. For example, exfoliation is one of the most important skin-care steps for oily skin, however you need to exercise extreme caution when exfoliating dry skin. It is also very important to care for your skin with all-natural products; chemicals will end up hurting you and your skin in the long run.
ALWAYS exfoliate! Exfoliation is important all-around, however it is crucial to those with oily skin. Follow up with a toner and a gentle moisturizer and you should be good to go!
Genetics worked in your skin’s favour, though you still need to care for it! Start with any type of cleanser you prefer, follow with a toner and a regular moisturizer, going easy on the oily spots and using as much as you need on the dry spots.
Winter is not your friend! You will want to apply a night-time moisturizer before bed so that you wake up with your skin prepped and primed. Wash your face with a moisturizing cleansing lotion and follow with a toner and a regular to heavy-duty facial moisturizer depending on the season.
Wash your face with a gentle cleanser to remove bacteria and follow with a toner. Finish with a gentle, antibacterial moisturizer.
